Kansas High School History
100 Years of of Hoops
Most of the data being collected is done by search digitized newspapers.  Companies such as newspapers.com and newsarchive.com the most common.  The page "Searching Newspapers" includes links to known newspapers that can be searched.

Above is a link to Macfeesports.com that includes Kansas High School Basketball History State Tournaments. (not all years covered).

Another is searching microfilm.  Most libraries I understand do not have the microfilm but it can be ordered from a centralized source like the Library of Congress and The Kansas Historical Society.  The microfilm requires special viewers that are normally only available in libraries.

Recently we have found libraries like the Morrill Hiawatha Library offer the local newspapers like the Hiawatha Daily World in digitized format. They are generally up to date and include all the years of our interest including 1926 to 1965. Other libraries have recently been found that offer this service one being the Sabetha library that has digitized Sabetha newspapers.  These are free of charge for use and can be accessed from any home computer that connects to the internet.  Other larger libraries with larger collections of newspapers can be found by searching.  One is the Osborne Public Library that covers 10 newspapers one been the Natoma that the 1952 team played in the State Tournament.  There are probably several more to be found.

The absolute best way would be to find the original score books that were done by Mr. Pollock and maintained by Coach Corrigan.  But finding the books has presented a problem.  But if you have any leads please notify someone so we can check it out.

Thanks, Jerry Draney
